The project has aimed to demonstrate to the public and housing association residents that migration has made a positive contribution to Birmingham and its communities. A dozen housing association residents were interviewed and their stories of migration and settling in Birmingham provide the foundation for the project.

The launch event on June 18th showed invited guests from the housing sector and local government not only the dedicated website, but also the exhibition display, which will tour Birmingham locations until February 2011. Lord Morris of Handsworth was the guest speaker on the night providing a picture of his experiences of migration, and his support for the project?s messages, ?this is only the beginning,? he stated.

The project was successfully managed by Laverne Bennett of Mercian working in co-ordination with David Cusack, CEO of Moseley & District HA. Funding was achieved from Birmingham Social Housing Partnership members, the Big Lottery and Birmingham City Council.
